Get Excited!!

First of all, congrats on taking the leap and booking your boudoir photography session! It’s going to be fun, an amazing experience, and super empowering for you. Wardrobe is an essential part of your boudoir session, using proper wardrobe that is not only beautiful but that flatters your body is just one of the many ways we ensure your session is a success. It doesn’t have to be complicated.

I am a believer in stripping down and keeping it basic. Less is more. In fact, we really love doing our ‘implied nudes’ in the sheets and highly recommend you give it a try!

Most of our clients use our fantastic client wardrobe, and some opt to shop and bring their own hand selected pieces. Here is our cheat sheet for you to shop and know what to bring for your session. I hope it helps you! Feel free to reach out with questions any time so I can help you through this part of the process.

It’s important that we focus on what you are going to wear, in a way that the outfits don’t take away from YOU! When we focus too much on stand-out outfits and props, we lose focus on our goal, which is to EMPOWER YOU! With this in mind, I have created the following guide to help you select the best wardrobe for your upcoming boudoir session with us.

We want you: vulnerable, exposed, raw, and extremely beautiful. This doesn’t mean we want you to be uncomfortable or pushed outside your comfort zone, it means that we want YOU to be the focus of the image and not a flashy outfit or a distracting prop. It’s our job to empower you and provide you with a body positive experience. It’s about reconnecting you with you: your femininity, sensuality, your sexuality, and your womanhood. We want to leave you with timeless images that you and your loved ones will cherish for the rest of your lives.

With that said, wearing the WRONG pieces can actually ruin images, whether it’s because of a poor fit, bad color choice for your skin tone, a pattern that doesn’t photograph well, or is simply not the best style choice for your body type.

Why wear jewelry or heels when you normally don’t wear any? Why wear something lacy when you prefer straps? Why hide behind a costume or a prop? Let’s select stuff that will help your personality shine!

WHAT TO BRING

I have curated a 200+ item Client Wardrobe that is always growing. Our unique pieces are inclusive for all women sized XS – 6X and shoes size 6-10. The Client Wardrobe includes several styles of lingerie, robes, tanks, shoes, jewelry, and more. There is no rental fee for using items from the Client Wardrobe! It’s all included as part of your experience with our studio.

The only things you are required to bring to your session are:

(1) Flesh tone seamless or G-string thong

(1) Black seamless or G-string thong

These are for wearing underneath the client wardrobe pieces!

Wardrobe Ideas

Here are some ideas for staple items you may want to bring to your boudoir session, but these items are not required.

Heels that are in like new condition. The higher the heel, the better. We do have nude and black heels in size 6-10 in the client wardrobe, but you are welcome to bring your own and it’s a great way to add some personal flare!

Something from your everyday wardrobe like a sweater, tee-shirt, button up dress shirt, jeans or jean shorts, cowboy boots, something “off the cuff” that you love that we can make super sexy.

Your favorite jewelry, just a few pieces is fine, probably your everyday pieces and a few special or statement pieces to go with your outfits.

Fun accessories like fur coats, leather jackets, vests, thigh highs, fishnet tights, or anything clothing related that brings out your personality.

FISHNETS!! or thigh highs or patterned tights. These make for a great add-on to an outfit, or a super sexy way to go nude (YAAASSS!!!)

Black high waisted panties, and a strappy/lacy/sexy black panties, bralettes or other soft cupped/stretch lace bras.

do not bring..

Props. Boudoir is not pinup photography, and props are a distraction from our focus (YOU!)

Heavily worn, tattered, soiled, or scuffed items. Large men’s shirts. The concept is great but bring a similar shirt cut to fit you.

Items that do not fit (too big, too small).

Sex toys (really…do I need to say this?!).

Padded bras.

Sports Jerseys. Bring a team branded t-shirt or undies instead! Weapons.

Intimate Portraits behind

NAILS

If you are going to get your nails done, we recommend selecting either a French Manicure style or a neutral shade. Black, white, nude, and grey are OK in my book! Red or Burgundy is also a nice color. Glitter is OK. Darker or neutral is typically safest! Stay away from bright blues, greens, yellows, oranges, purples, pinks, and basically all other eye catching colors so they don’t take over your images. You don’t want overly trendy colored nails that look passé in a decade!

TAN LINES

Editing tan lines is impossible. If you don’t want tan lines in your pictures, stay out of the sun for a week or two before your shoot or schedule your session during the off season (November – April). If you are going on vacation, schedule your boudoir session for before you leave. If necessary, we can send images out to a magician to edit tan lines, but this will be subject to additional fees. The only other option is to A) deal with your tan lines in your images (some people think they look sexy!) or B) select wardrobe that will conceal your tan lines.

SPRAY TANS

PLEASE DO NOT SHOW UP WITH A SPRAY TAN!  I cannot stress this enough.  Your spray tan will not photograph well and it will stain our furniture, floors, carpets, bedding, and clothing. I do not advocate for tanning beds prior to your session, they can cause for redness and blotchiness of the skin and we will not color correct your skin tone in post processing. I prefer you come as you are. I promise you, your natural skin is going to photograph beautifully. If you feel “pasty” we can easily add a warm glow to your skin tone in your images. Trust the process!

If you pre-purchase your Collection, you can gain access to our exclusive Bonus Wardrobe and Speciality Set options! A prepayment of our minimum investment is required to be paid in full 60 days prior to your session date.

If you have a specific question we did not address in the guide, please let us know ASAP!

It is very important to us that we know you are excited and confident going into your session, and not worried over a small detail that can be addressed in a simple phone call, text, or email.
